Bangladesh Jute Goods Association (BJGA) was established on sixth February, 1970: Formally it was names as "Pakistan Jute Goods Association". After independence the name has been changed as Bangladesh Jute Goods Association. The management of BJGA duly applied to the Ministry of Commerce to change the name as "Bangladesh Jute Goods Exporters Association (BJGEA). In the month of October 2023, the final approval was given by RJSC in the name of the association.
Main Aim & Objectives:
01. To protect and promote the interests of the trade in jute goods including by products of jute of all kinds such as gunnies, Hessian, twine, yarn & carpet baking and jute caddies et., which are now being manufactured, and may in future be manufactured out of jute referred to hereinafter as JUTE GOODS'.
02. To watch over and protect the general commercial interest in every sphere of the jute goods trade of Bangladesh or any part thereof and the interest of persons engaged in the jute goods trade in Bangladesh.
03. To take up, consider and discuss question connected with or affecting the jute goods trade.
04. To promote or oppose legislative and other matters affecting the jute goods trade.
05. To collect and circulate statistics and other information relating to jute goods trade.
06. To adjust controversies between Members of Association.
07. To establish just and equitable principles between Members of Association.
08. To form a code or codes of practice to simplify and facilitate transaction of business in jute goods.
Activities:
• Provide membership to the traders/ manufacturers of jute goods in Bangladesh.
• Issue certificate on Cash Incentive /GSP/GSTP/ANEX/KPT/VISA etc.
• Publication of Annual Magazine.
• Attend different meetings/seminar/workshop organized by EPB/ MOT&J/MOC/DOJ/NBR/Tariff Commission/Bangladesh Bank/FBCCI/DCCI/BJMC/BJMA/BJSA/BSC etc.
• Membership with FBCCI and other networking bodies.
• Organize Bi-monthly Executive Board Meeting.
• Organize Annual General Meeting (AGM).·
• Completion of Audit by Audit firm.
• Preparation of Annual report.
• Publication of Annual Export Volume( in M.T) and Value in (US $)
• Attend different trade fairs in country and abroad.
• Organize annual Excursion/ Picnic
• Printing of Diary & Calendar
